A COIN for a thought

                            A COIN FOR A THOUGHT

We had a lesson at the GNCT  lecture period in 13th of December. It was very interesting  day because that day we were doing a nice game.First Miss Sarasi collected a coin from each of us and coins were put  in to a purse. Then that purse rotated through the class and moment where Miss Sarasi tapped the table ,with the persons with thew purse  had to take a coin out and he had to speak bout the memories he had related to the year of the coine.

this game were going awesome because every one get coin from purse and tell it's past history. When i got chance to  speak ,the coin i got was a 5/- coin which was released in 2007.so here is the story which i related to the class,

It was the month of December in 2007, and it was a rainy season. One Sunday morning I was playing in the garden and suddenly I got the idea of overseeing the well because I knew that the well would have filled with water because of the rain.

When I peeped through the well,  an idea suddenly got struck in my mind, "What if I touch the water of the well from my little feet? Then it would be my super hero story in the school". So I started gliding through the rope of the well until my foot touched the water and which I managed to do without any difficulty. But suddenly matters got out of hand and I started slipping through the rope until water was in to my chest level.

Luckily I managed to hold the rope with my left hand and my right hand was holding the iron pipe which was connected to the motor. Then I started shouting "බේරගනියෝ!! බේරගනියෝ!!" so loud. Luckily my sister was playing in the garden and she came running to save my life. She managed to take me out from the jaws of death after scolding me for  putting myself inside the well.

This week for PPD we had a workshop from WSO2 which was organized by our madam Ms. Sarasi Senadheera.. This workshop was held from 10 am to 12am at B1 212 hall. All first year, second year, third year and fourth year students participated in this session. The topic of this workshop was "Emerging Technology Trends" and the workshop was conducted by Mr. Srinath Perera from WSO2.

forces at play

1.Cost saving and productivity
2.Automation

3.Need for connectivity and intergration
4.Fuction disaggregretion(x Economy)
5.Availablility of Programmers

As students who study Software Engineering, this workshop was very important for us and it helped us to gain new knowledge in this software engineering field. The things we are learning today are focused to the future. Hence to be a professional in this field, it is a must to know about the trends in this field. And we must thank our madam Ms. Sarasi for organizing this workshop for us.

lava river

                             lava River

This week we were doing a very interesting game at our PPD session which we call it Lava River.

For this activity we were divided into groups by our madam. There were 20 students and then we had 4 groups. In each group there were 5 members. Our team members are Chamith, Hasitha, Pankajan, Faheem and Sandali(me).

Our madam had brought the resources for the activity. They are cardboard plates which were cut in the shape of circles. She called them as stones.

First our madam gave instructions to telling us how we should do this activity. Lava River is a game. In this game we have to cross a lava river using those stones. Each group was given 4 stones. We have to go from one bank to the other bank of the river using those stones. All 4 stones should have the human touch through out the process. If it lose human touch we will lose the stone and we have to cross the river with the remaining stones. And if someone step on the lava, that group have to start from the beginning. And only 3 times we can step on lava.

we have ten minutes to do this game .first we stay like above that picture and we across  the lava river one by one.some time we felt down the river but we try to to our best.finally we across the river comfortably.

From this activity we learned to accomplish a given task with the limited resources and with the help of team members. And finally it was a very interesting activity to remember.

most inspired person

                               Most Inspired Leader

This week we were learning about Leadership What allows great leaders to overcome hardship, build great teams and innovate radical solutions to challenging situations?
.
Often, the best lessons can be learned from history. All great leaders throughout history share common characteristics and attributes that not only made them unique, but also helped them lead great movements with innovative ideas.  These individuals were not born leaders; they developed leadership habits and followed the inspiring example of those that came before them.

When talking about myself, the leader who inspired me most is J.K. Rowling who is a British novelist, philanthropist, film producer, television producer and screen writer. But she is popular around the word as thauthor of the Harry Potter book series.

Here is a look at some of the greatest leaders of our time and some of the characteristics that make them great.

1. Powerful Persistence – Abraham Lincoln

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

2. Bold Courage – Sandra Day O’Connor

“In order to cultivate a set of leaders with legitimacy in the eyes of the citizenry, it is necessary that the path to leadership be visibly open to talented and qualified individuals of every race and ethnicity.” ~ Sandra Day O’Connor

3. Humble Sacrifice – Nelson Mandela

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” ~ Nelson Mandela

4. Creative Innovation – Eleanor Roosevelt

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

5. Brave Determination – Rosa Parks

“I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.” ~ Rosa Parks

Nevertheless, it is important to constantly seek opportunities to grow and strengthen our skills.  As leaders, we must seek opportunities to build reinforcing habits that allow us to be more effective.
These leadership lessons are helpful reminders that can help us expand our influence, strengthen our organizations and advance our careers.

culture

                                      Culture

We had a game at the GNCT lecture which is more interesting than the other game .That game is not only a game because it show how our old culture behaviour .It was very funny and interesting also creativity planing and teamwork.

our activity have song ,dance and drama.our country name is "huba lanthaya".our language is huba huba language.but our group did not do this activity very well.because our group did not plan before the activity and did not do the drama before the activity. But other group did this activity very well.

what are the things we can get ?

1) Team work
2) how to plan the thing according  to decision
3) imagination
4) acting

leadership

                               Leadership

Today we were doing a session about most famous persons in the world at the GNCT lecture. It was more important and very helpful our carrier. we  don't know who are did this one,how it work like ,those things we able to know .

Leadership is the ability of an individual or a group of individuals to influence and guide followers or other members of an organization. Leadership involves making sound -- and sometimes difficult -- decisions, creating and articulating a clear vision, establishing achievable goals and providing followers with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve those goals.
so my favourite person is one of the biggest name in the world Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci was one of the great creative minds of the Italian Renaissance, hugely influential as an artist and sculptor but also immensely talented as an engineer, scientist and inventor.
Leonardo da Vinci was born on 15 April 1452 near the Tuscan town of Vinci, the illegitimate son of a local lawyer. He was apprenticed to the sculptor and painter Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence and in 1478 became an independent master. In about 1483, he moved to Milan to work for the ruling Sforza family as an engineer, sculptor, painter and architect. From 1495 to 1497 he produced a mural of 'The Last Supper' in the refectory of the Monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan.

Mona Lisa

n about 1503 Leonardo began painting the a portrait of a woman known as Mona Lisa, the most famous portrait that has ever been painted. He continued working on it for many years. It is a small picture, painted in oil on a wooden panel. It shows the face, upper body and hands of a woman. She is very plainly dressed. For a portrait, a woman would usually put on her best clothes and jewellery. Mona Lisa has a dark dress and a fine black veil over her head. Leonardo often left symbols in his paintings that give clues about the person. The unusual thing about this picture is the smile. The smile is the clue to her name: Mona Lisa Giacondo. Giacondo means "the joking one". (Mona is short for Madonna which means "My Lady".)
these are his some other paint arts

so we done a superb lesson  so we happy to do this program. All are should know what the purpose that lesson. Why they are important for us.thank for our GNCT lecturer to do this great program.
